Texsport Deluxe Folding Camp Cot is a reliable military style cot with an adjustable bed deck with Velcro tabs. Being on the market for many years, this is a very popular cot with a great price tag.
Key features & benefits
- Reliable cot on the market for many years already.
- Easy setup without force.
- Adjustable bed deck tension.
- Great price.
What type cot is this
Did you know that this Texsport Deluxe Cot been around for at least 7 years already? So as you can imagine, everything is known about it, there should be no unpleasant surprises.
This is a collapsible cot and a military type. This implies the following: it packs nicely to a relatively small size, but it needs assembly. Now, the assembly implies just adding the two end poles, very typical for every cot of this type. The same is when you want to pack it, you have to remove those two poles. This all is done easily and without any extra tool.
About the setup
There is some detail here that makes this cot exceptional. Normally, in most of the military style cots you need a bit of force to put those end bars in place. This is simply because of the tension in the fabric.
This is not so here. The end sleeves are not fixed. In fact, you have Velcro hook and loop tabs so you can make the deck length as loose as you want and you then add the end bars without any force. After that you break the Velcro connection and reposition it and make the deck tensioned.
When you dismantle the cot, you do the opposite – break the Velcro (if the fabric is too tight) and remove the end bars without any force.
Who is it for
This Texsport cot is a nice tool for campers and also as a spare bed at home. The legs are with plastic caps so you should not have issues with the floor. But if you use it in a tent with a soft ground underneath the floor, you might want to add something extra for protection.
Regardless where you use it, it has a durable bag included where you can keep it clean from dust. It is with a shoulder strap and a drawstring closure.
Is it really deluxe
The short answer is: not really. The cot is a normal size, 75 x 26 inches (191 x 66 cm), in fact quite narrow. If you want something really deluxe, check these extra long cots, the shortest of them is 210 cm.
How about the capacity
The capacity is quite modest, you have 250 lb (113 kg). This may be good for many but if you need something for heavy people, check some of these cots.
In what type tent to use it
The dimensions are standard but the cot is quite high, you have 16 inches (41 cm). This is good because you have lots of volume underneath the cot to store the gear. But the tent should be high enough, and the best choice would be any cabin type tent like this Eureka Copper Canyon 4, or Kelty Sequoia 4, they can accommodate two cots of this type, or use any larger family camping tent.
How about pads
If you need extra comfort, you can add something. If this is about a cold environment, you will have to put an insulated pad. But you are off the ground and you need less insulation as compared with the sleeping on the ground.
In any case, check here for a variety of pads, both insulated and uninsulated.
There are several cots of this brand presented here in the site, for example this Black Bear is one of the largest on the market, just to know in view of the mentioned modest size of the cot presented here. But there is also the King Cot, and First Gear Mammoth XL cot.
This brand has been around for more than half a century already. They have many items on the market built for family camping. You have seen a few cots, but they also build sleeping bags, sleeping pads, and cookware.

In the summary of this Texsport Deluxe Folding Camp Cot review, I would stress its price which is hard to match, and the adjustable bed deck due to the Velcro tabs. Such decks materials may become loose in time and it is good to have this design which allows you to make it tight and flat again. It is useful in the setup as well. I have seen many times people complaining about some other military cots due to the tight fabric which requires lots of force to put the end bars in place. Well, with this Texport cot you are safe from this, just undo the Velcro, no force is needed.
Thank you for reading. Please look around if you need something different, all possible types of cots are presented in detail here in the site. You might want to check this Earth X-Tra Big Military Style Cot which is a rather big cot as the name suggests, and it comes with bonuses.
