Ozark Trail Two-Person Cot Tent is a folding camping tool for off-ground sleeping with a full-coverage fly and vestibules for the gear storage.
Key features & benefits
- Collapsible design.
- Easy setup.
- Very good price.
- Gear loft included.
- Carry bag included.
- Water-resistant.
What type of a cot-tent is this
Here you have a double cot-tent with a collapsible design. This means that the setup is easy and the assembly is easy. Only the tent poles have to be attached, the bed you simply spread. The structure is very similar to the Kamp Rite Compact Double Tent Cot.
Obviously, this is a double-size tent cot and I have included it in my list of double cot-tents.
The double size bed is with 9 legs so the weight is distributed and you have plastic cups and this is a floor-friendly design. There is also a mesh loft included and it is fixed under the cot so you can store some of your items and have them off the ground and fully protected. The whole system comes in a carry bag.
The fly is the full-coverage type and it goes all the way to the ground and you can stake it down properly and secure against the wind. This allows for lots of storage space. There are two doors on the sides and the outer doors roll up and you fix them to the fly.
Regarding the rain protection, note that the fly is water-resistant but not fully waterproof. So I would not go with this tool in an area where lots of rain is expected. On the other hand, if you use it without the fly, you will enjoy sleeping under the stars and you will be fully protected from the bugs and also from any objects on the ground, the picture below shows how this may look like.
Who is it for
Weight-wise, you have a tool that weighs 40 lb (18.14 kg), so this may look a lot but this is a two-person tent-cot. You will see in the comparison table below how it stands in comparison with other similar tools, and you will realize this weight is quite normal.
Capacity-wise, it supports up to 450 lb (204 kg) so this is lower than some of its competitors shown in the comparison table below.
Seasons-wise and climate-wise, I already mentioned the issue of waterproofness so this sleeping system is for camping in the areas without much rain, if any. For such a use, you can keep the vestibules open and you will always have enough air circulation. So for a summer camping without rain, this is a great tool.
In the case of cold-weather camping, the following things to point out. Again, avoid rainy situations, and avoid the snow. The poles are fiberglass and although the structure looks strong, I would not expose them to much vertical pressure. You are well off-the-ground and even with a modest R-value sleeping pad, you will be fine. This is surely better than sleeping on the ground in any tent regardless of how good.
Size-wise, you have the bed which is 79 x 58 inches (201 x 147 cm) so these are quite good dimensions and you definitely have enough space for two users. Have seen many people mixing the tent size with the bed size. So the tent goes around and creates small vestibules and this is the size 8.1 x 8.1 ft mentioned on Amazon.
The packed size is around (L x D) 50 x 11 inches (127 x 28 cm), so this is a bulky item. But again, you will see it below compared with other cot-tents and you will realize this is quite a typical packed size.
Note that there is a bar in the middle so it separates the bed into two sections. If you use it solo you will sleep on either of the two sides and you can use the other half for your gear.
All in all, this is a tool for car camping, big enough for two people but it can be used also as a solo tent-cot.
Note that this structure is quite similar to this Timber Ridge 2 Person Quick Setup Full Fly Cot Tent.
Do you need a pad
For summer camping you do not need any pad, but you might want to use one for extra comfort. Please check my list with some top quality double sleeping pads.
In a cold environment, you will surely need one. But being off the ground you need far less insulation as compared with the sleeping on the ground. Roughly speaking and dependent on the type of the ground, you lose around 50 times more body warmth to the ground (if you sleep on the ground) than to the air under you if you sleep off the ground on such a cot.
A sleeping pad, if thick enough, will also save you from the central bar which goes along the bed from the head to the feet area.
With a double pad you might want a double sleeping bag and this even if you use this system solo. I am a bit claustrophobic so I use double bags whenever possible, and this is only for car camping of course. So check my list with the best double sleeping bags for car camping.

Final thoughts
In the summary of this Ozark Trail Two-Person Cot Tent review, I would stress that this is a nicely designed and sturdy structure with lots of space for a couple. The price is really great. But bear in mind my objections given above in the text.
Note that they also have a single-person version with the same basic features, so please have a look here.
If you want to see more options for two people, check my list with double cot-tents. For single-size tent-cots please check in the category Collapsible Cot Tents. You will see that there is one from the same brand and built in the same style, the Ozark Trail One-Person Cot-Tent.

Somebody please give me some information how to get this tent , Ozark Trail double cot tent ?
It is not available right now, I checked also by the manufacturer.
Why cant i just spray the rain fly with the product called” camp dry” it is a water proofer. This will cause any heavy rain to bead up and roll off the rain fly. Your thoughts?
Hi Phillip, I would do this for sure, cannot see any negative side of it. Just check about smell on some separate piece of fabric to avoid surprises.
Please i need an information about how to get 2 person double cot tent , ozark or timber . I’ve been searching everywhere still cant find thanks
Supply lines are in chaos due to pandemic, I have checked for you and cannot find it available. It might come back again.
Do you have any recommendations on a pad to use with this? Especially if one is planning to use it solo and wants to avoid the bar in the middle?
Hi, ee have a separate text with double sleeping pads, please have a look, there are some great options in the list.
Do we know when the double will be available again. The single is not enough space for me.
Hi Lori, I do not have this information. But I searched for it and I see it available on Walmart-Canada.
Hi! I love my one person cot (Ozark Trail), but confused. I have the version with the reflective tape, no to the ground rain fly or storage underneath. The one you show sells for $89+, but mine ten dollars+ more. Why? Also, I cannot find the double Ozark Trail…not even at Walmart! Please advise. Thanks.
Hi, I am not sure which version you have so I am afraid I cannot say more. Regarding the price, this fluctuates frequently and it depends on sellers, nothing is ever fixed there.
The double version is not available right now but I am sure this is just temporary. This happens occasionally with products on Amazon and Walmart.
hi, just wondering if you have any ideas, about flying wit compact camping equip. for two, ie, tent, cot combo, pads sleeping bags, that could be flown as baggage with you, to put in small rental car at the destination?
Hi Steve, I am not completely sure what you ask. You can always put all the stuff in a suitcase and check it in at the airport. I know that some people use some plastic containers if they are concerned that the gear could be damaged. All the items here in the site will fit any car.
How high is the cot (sleeping platform) above the ground?
Do not have it at hand right now, but as I remember it should be around 12 inches, plenty of space underneath the cot.
