WildHorn Outfitters Terralite Portable Camp Chair is an ultra-lightweight chair with an easy setup, great price, and bonus Terragrip feet caps.
Key features & benefits
- Ultra-lightweight.
- Nicely packable.
- Two different sets of feet caps.
- Very good price.
What type of camping chair is this
The WildHorn Outfitters Terralite is what its name says, an ultra-lightweight portable chair, one of those that belong to the group of collapsible items. As such, it requires a simple assembly which is easily done in seconds.
You have practically only two parts here: the frame which includes shock-corded permanently connected tubes, plus a sling. This all comes in a nice carry bag, see the picture.
But they also include a spare set of very large feet caps, they call it the Terragrip. They are very large in diameter and reduce sinking on a soft ground, see both types here:
Note that the difference in the chair weight with these two types is big, 2 lb (907 g) with the ordinary cups and 2.6 lb (1180 g) with the Terragrip feet on the shown on right. They are interchangeable and you will surely want to take the lighter option on the trail.

Who is it for
Capacity-wise, the chair is able to support users of up to 350 lb. The seat dimensions are good but the seat height is 14 inches (36 cm) so it might be too low for some users. The back section is around 17 inches (43 cm) tall from the seat, so you do not have a head support here.
Weight-wise, it is lightweight enough even for hikers and backpackers. Its packed size is rather good, only (L x D) 17 x 4.7 inches (43 x 12 cm).
So this is a versatile chair, suitable for outdoor use and also for sports events, open-air festivals, and similar activities. The Terragrip feet will allow you to use it even on the sand and on any other soft terrain. They prevent the chair from slipping or sliding.
Materials & construction
The frame is a 7075 aircraft-grade aluminum, so this is a very strong material comparable to the steel. This is a rustproof ally, and the diameter of the poles is 0.5 inches (1.3 cm). You have a Velcro strap that keeps it wrapped up for transportation.
There are two hinges where the metal bars go and those are a hard and thick plastic. They do not give any info about the seat fabric except that it is machine washable.
My rating, pros & cons
As you realize from the video above, changing the feet is easy. But this is the issue here as they can also fell off easily.
On the other hand, the chair may be low for some users, bear in mind that the seat is at around 14 inches (36 cm) above the ground.
This is an enormously popular item, and it has been on the market for several years already. So all is known about it, there are many reviews and reports. Note that on Amazon alone you have more than 630 reports by customers, and the ratings are for every respect, with 4.3/5 average value. See how I rate this chair:

Final thoughts
So in the summary of this WildHorn Outfitters Terralite Portable Camp Chair review to stress again that this is a very affordable and versatile backpack portable chair.
If you need something of this sort and do not want to spend much, this is an obvious option to consider. It costs a bit more than its competitors because of the extra set of feet which you get.
