What type is this Coleman 4-in-1 Pack-Away Table

The phrase 4-in-1 in the name implies that you can use is as:

• A square table (see the top picture above).
• A buffet table, shown in the picture below.
• 2 Separate tables. Here you have options to use each of them in 4 separate heights.
• Bi-level table.

Adjustable legs

This feature is related to the 4-in-1 options mentioned above. So essentially you have two tables with adjustable legs and when you combine them appropriately, you have the mentioned options.

The legs have 2 extensions, you can see them in the picture above separated by those black rings. This is how you can have 3 different heights, 14.5, 27.5, and 31.5 inches (37, 70, 80 cm).

But this is not all. In fact, you can screw the shortest 4-inch sections into the basic 14.5-inch legs and this will give you the fourth height of 18.5 inches (47 cm). I have included this table in my list of best camping tables with adjustable legs.

So you realize that you have two low configurations for a side table, and also two heights for a real dining table. This means you can use this table with a variety of camping chairs. The highest level is higher than most of the dining tables you have at home.

Note that you also have fine-tuning leveling feet, see the picture below. This is a useful feature which you need for outdoor use because the ground is never perfectly flat.

This is a folding table as the name suggests, so when packed you have an elegant and compact box which is 31.5 x 16 x 3 inches (80 x 41 x 8 cm).

Note that both tables pack into the same box. There is even a handle on the side so you can carry it as a thin suitcase. But you can fold the tables independently and carry then independently. In this case, only one will have a handle.

So there is no separate carry case, the case is created by the two tabletops. I have seen people asking about this. The legs extension snap into brackets under the tabletops.

Who is it for

Size-wise, in view of its total tabletop which is roughly 31.5 x 31.5 inches (80 x 80 cm), this is a table big enough for up to 4 people. Though when the tables are in the square setup, two sides are with dual legs in the middle so you cannot approach it completely with the chair.

But when you use them separately, each of them is good enough for two people.

Regarding the weight which is 12.3 lb (5.6 kg) and more importantly the packed size, this is a table for places with a car access.

Capacity-wise, the declared weight capacity of this table is exceptionally high. It can support up to 300 lb (136 kg). I doubt that you will even need more for a camping table.

In case you did not know, Coleman is a brand established more than 100 years ago in Wichita, Kansas.

Materials

The frame is all aluminum so this is a material that will not rust easily. The tabletop is an MDF laminate. So it should not be left for a long time in the rain, and it should not be exposed to high heat. There are two variants of the top pattern which you can see in the pictures above.

The frame is with support elements in the corners so the structure is very stable and strong. You have brackets included (shown in the picture above) which lock the tables together.

This table is on the US market with the price shown below. This is a great price for such a versatile item.

Note that the table has been on the market for a number of years already. It has received hundreds of reports by customers on Amazon alone, and the average rating is fantastic.

I mentioned above that this table is heavy. But you will see some people describing it as lightweight. So this depends on the perspective. It is always a good idea to compare and to understand what behind such a weight is.

So here it is side by side with the Redcamp Aluminum Folding table and Alps Mountaineering Camp Table. As you realize it is heavier than both of them together. But this Coleman Table is two tables in one, plus multiple configurations with legs and setup. From this perspective, the other two tables are not a match.
