So what type of a camping table is this

Alps Mountaineering brand has many camping tables on the market and they sometimes have similar names. So do not mix this with their other tables, the name given in the title is how they describe it.

So this is a fully collapsible table which has 4 elements: the frame, two horizontal bars which support the tabletop, and an accordion-type tabletop. The tabletop feature is presented in this picture:

The remaining elements are shown in this picture below. Note that all these elements are aluminum, and this holds also for the X-shaped support rods.

Only the sliding elements on the four legs are plastic, and you also have plastic caps on the feet. This is a brushed matte silver color, just to know if it looks white here.

So the tabletop is aluminum, reasonably heat-resistant. You have a nice logo of the brand engraved on it:

The mentioned collapsible design implies that it requires an assembly when you make it ready but this is a simple job, all is done in a minute and without extra tools.

The carry bag is included and you have two compartments inside, one for the frame and one for the tabletop.

Who is it for

Weight-wise, with its 6 lb (2.72 kg) this is a portable table but it is not in the group of ultralight items which you can see in my separate list. So this is for camping.

The packed size is 32 x 6 x 4 inches (81 x 15 x 10 cm), so I would extend the statement from above and add that this is for car camping. As you see it is a bit long when packed.

Surprisingly, they do not give the weight capacity. But it looks very solid and stable, definitely strong enough to support all what you normally use in the camp for cooking and for serving meals.

Size-wise, the tabletop is large, it measures 28 x 28 inches (71 x 71 cm), so this is plenty of space for two people. Note also that it is 27 inches (69 cm) high. This means you can use it with some low camping chairs as a normal dining table, or as a side table. The picture below gives you some idea about its tabletop size:

ALPS Mountaineering Camp Table vs Competitors

I have decided to show you this Alps Mountaineering Camp Table side by side with a great table from Big Agnes, the Soul Kitchen Camp Table. Obviously, the Big Agnes table is much lighter but it is also smaller and lower. Most importantly, it is around 3 times more expensive.

Final thoughts
