What type of chair is this Big Six Camp Chair?

This is a collapsible chair and this implies that it needs a simple assembly. But this is easily done in seconds, all the poles in the frame are shock-corded so they attach to each other easily and without force. Then you just add the fabric seat on the frame, you will see this in the video below.

But this is a unique design, in fact, it is patented. The same design is in their new Big Agnes Skyline UL Stool. So what is new here is that there are no usual plastic elements where the frame pieces connect to each other. Instead, the poles connect directly, see the picture:

This is a high chair and you have a great headrest, so I have added it to my list of camping chairs with headrest. See it from the side:

Who is it for

Size-wise, this is a tall chair and the seat is 20 inches (51 cm) above the ground. So getting in and out is easy, this makes it suitable also for elderly users.

Capacity-wise, the chair is quite typical with its 300 lb (136 kg) declared capacity. Need something much stronger? If so then check my list with chairs for heavy people.

Weight-wise, this is a very lightweight chair, it weighs 3 lb 3 oz (1.45 kg). So I have added it in my list with best backpack portable and collapsible chairs. But if you need something ultralight, check these backpacking chairs.

Note also that its packed size is great (L x D) 21 x 3.5 inches (53 x 9 cm), see the picture. So you can attach it to the backpack for some shorter tours, and you can also transport it on a bicycle or on a motorbike.

Materials

I already mentioned the frame, so this is a fully shock-corded aircraft aluminum pole system structure for a simple set up and break down. The chair offers an enhanced comfort through pre-bent poles that create a wider and more stable seat.

The fabric is a combination of a lightweight nylon 100D Robic that is lightweight and 25% – 30% stronger than a regular yarn in the same denier, and a 300D polyester rip-stop.

Note that the feet are with plastic caps but they will sink in a soft ground. Please see a bit more in this short video:

My rating, pros & cons

This chair is an expensive item and this is not so great if you are on a budget. But this is a quality product from a renown brand. Please see how I rate it against criteria used for all the chairs here in the site:

I have decided to show you how this chair compares with some others that are in the same category of collapsible and portable chairs. So here are the Helinox Savanna and Kelty Linger, as you realize these are top-notch items. Note that all of them offer a headrest. So this Big Agnes chair is lighter and it packs better.
