So what this Big Agnes Big Six Armchair is about

Here you have a new chair in their Big Six collection. This time they have added armrests and cup holders and this is what makes it very different from their Big Agnes Big Six Camp Chair.

So this chair has much more to offer, but this is still a very similar fully collapsible hubbed design without any plastic connectors. Being collapsible, the chair needs a simple assembly, but this is easily done without any tool.

Armrests

This is the essential new feature here and this is achieved by adding two extra poles that attach to the central bar under the seat, they are visible in the picture below.

These poles serve as attachment points for the two soft armrests that have integrated cup/bottle holders on both sides, see the picture below.

Observe how the armrests spread on the front, so this makes the chair even more comfortable and less restrictive.

This is a very tall chair with a high back area and it provides a great headrest as well. It comes with a nicely designed carry bag shown below.

Who is it for

Capacity-wise, with the declared 300 lb (136 kg) capacity this is an average chair but good enough for most of the users.

Size-wise, the overall dimensions are great, the chair measures 40 x 26 x 24 in (102 x 66 x 61 cm). Note that the seat is 20 inches (51 cm) above the ground, so this chair is a good option for taller people.

The armrests and such a seat height make it also suitable for elderly users. As you have seen the front is very wide and the armrests go well to the side so getting in and out is very easy. The backrest is very high and I have included it in my list of best high back camping chairs.

Weight-wise, the chair is also very good, it weighs 3 lb 14 oz (1.76 kg). So this is not a chair to carry in the pack on long tours but this is possible for shorter excursions from the camp. I see it best suited for places where you would not have to carry it yourself.

Note that its packed size is also good, 22 x 6 x 5 inches (56 x 15 x 13 cm). So it is short when packed and you can transport it even on a bicycle.

Materials

You have some excellent stuff here, this is their patented design without plastic hubs, this is all metal hub system with shock-corded poles that you cannot lose and there is nothing to guess when you want to make the chair ready.

The frame is a lightweight aircraft aluminum pole system and the fabric is a lightweight high-tenacity Robic nylon 100D with a 300D polyester rip-stop for extra tear strength. They claim this is 25% – 30% stronger than regular yarn in the same denier. Waterproof UTS coating is there and it gives the fabric a soft feel and enhances tear strength.

My rating, pros & cons

Below are my rating and some of pros and cons. Observe that the packed size rating looks low but this is simply because I consistently use the same rating scale for all the chairs here for easy comparison.
