Overview

The cot belongs to the group of collapsible cots, and this means it has separate part and needs a simple assembly. This means placing two side bars into the sleeves, and attaching its five folding legs. The pictures below show the most important steps:

You can see this also in their manual. The design is not unique, you can see it also in the Slumberjack Low Cot and in several other low camping cots.

For transportation, it packs nicely in its included carry bag shown below. It is very compact and you can transport it even on a bicycle.

The materials

The frame is steel, and its legs fold in the middle, so this is behind its compact size.

The legs are in fact bars, and the folding point in the middle creates a foot, so each of them has three areas in contact with the ground, see the picture above. This means that the weight is distributed to 15 points and the bed will not easily sink in a soft ground like a grass or sand. You can use it also in a floored tent.

They use a 600D ripstop polyester for the bed deck, so this is quite standard material for such items.

Who is it for

Regarding the capacity, the Robens Settler Bed is quite moderate, it is officially for users of up to 264 lb (120 kg). So if you need far more, please check in my list of cots for heavy people.

Regarding the dimensions, I would describe it as modest, the cot measures (L x W x H) 75.2 x 26 x 6.3 inches (191 x 67 x 16 cm). As you realize, it is not particularly wide. 

It is very low, and with such a height it can easily fit in any tent, including the lowest solo tents. But you still have 16 cm of clearance underneath it to store some gear. I have included it in my list of low camping cots.

Regarding the price, it is a bit steep, but you have a product from a renown brand known for the quality of its products.
