The Big Agnes camp chairs presented here are all either very light or ultralight, backpack-portable, easy to use, reliable, and compact.
Why Big Agnes? Where is Big Agnes based?
The Big Agnes company is based in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. They produce award-winning sleeping bags, pads, tents and camp furniture including camping chairs presented here.
Who started Big Agnes?
The Big Agnes brand was founded by Bill Gamber in 2001. In these two decades it has grown into a global leader in the outdoor industry.
Why is Big Agnes called Big Agnes?
The name was inspired by the Big Agnes Mountain that is located just north of Steamboat Springs where the company is headquartered.
My list of the best Big Agnes camping chairs
So here is my list with chairs ordered by weight from heavier to lighter:
1. Big Agnes Big Six Armchair
This Big Agnes Big Six Armchair is a collapsible chair with a high backrest and I have included it also in my list of best high back camping chairs with headrest.
It needs a simple assembly but this is easily done and it packs compact for transportation.
The chair weighs only 3 lb 14 oz (1.76 kg) and this makes it even backpack-portable. You have 2 cup holders, soft armrests, and a carry bag is also included.
2. Big Agnes Big Six Camp Chair
This Big Six Chair is a bucket style and without armrests, this makes it different from the chair shown above. They claim this is a patented design, without plastic hub elements.
The backrest is high enough so that you have a headrest. Note also that the seat is high, it is 20 inches (51 cm) above the ground, so this is suitable for taller people.
The chair is lightweight with its 3 lb 3 oz (1.45 kg). It comes with a nice carry bag, and its packed dimensions are very good (L x D) 21 x 3.5 inches (53 x 9 cm).
3. Big Agnes Mica Basin Armchair
This Big Agnes Mica Basin Armchair is again without plastic hub elements, it is fully collapsible and lightweight with its 2 lb 13 oz (1.28 kg) of weight.
I would not described it as a backpacking chair, but it is definitely light enough to be carried in the pack on shorter tours.
The frame tubes are a shock-corded aluminum. Note that you have bottle holders on the sides. A carry bag is included.
4. Big Agnes Mica Basin Camp Chair
This chair weighs only 992 grams, this is why I have included it also in my list of best backpacking chairs. The chair is an all-metal frame design without plastic hubs.
In view of its weight, the dimensions are good, it measures (H x W x D) 29 x 22 x 19.5 inches (74 x 56 x 50 cm).
The chair is compact for transportation, the packed size is (L x D) 17.5 x 3.5 inches (44 x 9 cm) so that you can easily attach it to the backpack. It comes with a nicely designed carry bag.
5. Big Agnes Skyline UL Chair
This Skyline UL Chair is with the frame that has the same features as its cousins presented above, without plastic hubs.
All tubes are shock-corded and they make one single piece so there is nothing to guess. The sling attaches easily to the four poles. It comes with a nicely designed carry bag.
The chair weighs 1 lb 11 oz (765 g), the capacity is 275 lb (125 kg), and the packed size is (L x D) 17 x 3.5 inches (43 x 9 cm).
6. Big Agnes Skyline UL Stool
Here you have an ultralight stool, and this is indicated with the letters UL in the official name. It weighs only 1 lb 2 oz (510 g).
The packed size is also impressive, the chair measures only (L x D) 12 x 3.5 inches (30 x 9 cm) in its carry bag, so you can carry it in the pack and transport in any way you want.
There are no plastic hubs here, only the feet are some sort of nylon. The capacity is 250 lb (113 kg).
Final thoughts

As you realize, all these chairs are light enough to be carried attached to a backpack. But only a few are true backpacking ultralight chairs, the rest are for any other outdoor use, compact and reliable.
