What is this about

There are many unique items from Kamp-Rite presented in this site, and this folding portable hammock is again something special. This is a completely collapsible and portable structure which has two main parts:

• The collapsible steel frame.

They pack separately in a nicely built carry bag which you will see in the video below, with two zippered compartments and carry handles.

This is a quick set construction which you can have ready in up to 30 seconds, and it is completely freestanding, no need for trees or anything.

The metal parts are steel and you also have steel chains to hang the hammock to the frame, while the bed deck is 600D polyester.

Who is it for

This is a great tool for camping trips, for relaxing at a poolside, or just hanging out in the backyard or on the porch. It is a great item as a gift in general or as a housewarming gift.

Using the Kamp Rite Hammock in a tent

I see this hammock as a perfect tool in any cabin-style tent, those are tall structures with steep walls and such a hammock will fit nicely. It is particularly suitable for such tents with screen room without a floor, this just to avoid thinking about the tent floor and its possible damages.

Though the feet are with plastic caps, and this is a floor-friendly design, but I would rather put something extra under the feet if you use it in a tent with a floor and if the ground is very soft.

The actual floor area needed for the feet is far smaller than the construction, so this may be good to know if the space in the tent is tight. You might still be able to set this hammock inside even if it partly hangs above some other stuff in the tent, like cots or anything else.

How about a sleeping pad

I wonder if you know, but there are sleeping pads that are specially designed for a hammock, with side fins and the shape appropriate for a hammock. So, this Klymit Hammock V sleeping pad is one of them.

Can you use your own hammock

The answer is yes, but check if it fits the frame. Here you have 102 inches (259 cm) length between the attachment points, so check the length of your hammock.

My rating, pros & cons

With 33 lb (15 kg), this is a heavy hammock, but the materials are durable and the weight is no surprise.
