What is in the name
Note that the cot is on Amazon under the name Coleman C002 Converta Suspension Cot and it is far from clear to me what the meaning of C002 in the name is. Perhaps this is just because they have yet another cot built in the same style and this is a modified version (more below).
In any case, this is a very easy-to-use folding construction without any assembly. You open it or close it in seconds. The picture below shows how it looks when folded. So it becomes thin and fits easily in narrow places, but the other two dimensions are substantial.
Recliner cot: The word Converta in the name implies that this is a 2-in-1 construction. You can use it as a standard cot, but you have a reclining backrest with 4 different positions shown below.
This reclining backrest can be combined with two different positions for the footrest. This gives 8 possible combinations, not bad at all. So you have a structure that can be used also as a lounger chair, in the camp or at home.
The word Suspension in the name implies yet another great feature. The bed deck is attached to the frame with what they call the ComfortSmart flexible bungee suspension. The picture below shows its zoomed view.
This is a great design because the bed deck adjusts to your body movement and it is not rigid. When you have such an attachment, then you can be sure that it offers more comfort than in the case when the bed fabric is completely fixed to the frame.
Such attachments sometimes can be noisy, but this is not the case here, it doesn’t squeak when you move around.
Note also that such a bed deck will sag less than in the case when the connection is firm. This is because it has some freedom of movement and it adapts to the body at places where there is more pressure.
Materials
The cot is supported by a steel frame, but they did not provide more information about it. Note that there are three U-shaped legs with long bars on the ground.
With such a design the cot will work practically on any ground and it will not easily sink no matter where you use it. It is safe to use also in a floored family camping tent.
The fabric is polyester and they describe it as heavy-duty, but the capacity is quite low, more below. They do give the usual warning about California Proposition 65.
Who is it for
Regarding the capacity, it can be described as quite modest, the cot officially supports up to 225 lb (102 kg). So if this is not enough, have a look at my list of best camping cots for heavy people.
Regarding the size, the cot is more or less typical, but I would also add it is a bit narrow. The bed size is 76.3 x 25.2 inches (194 x 64 cm).
Note that there is a frame around, and the true useful area is smaller for a couple of centimeters on every side. So if you are a tall person, you will want to check these cots for tall people.
Regarding the weight, it is not bad, the cot weighs 14.1 lb (6.4 kg). You have seen above how it looks when folded, so the dimensions in this state are 27.8 x 25.2 x 4.9 inches (71 x 64 x 12 cm). Clearly, this is a cot for places with a car access.
Regarding the price, this is a very affordable cot, and I am sure this is not on the account of its quality.

In summary, this Coleman Converta Suspension Camping Cot looks really cool and simple, but it is so versatile with its multiple configurations. It is easy to use and very affordable. Fully recommended. It is included in my list of best reclining cots for camping.

I have repeatedly searched the Internet, including the Coleman site and Amazon for HOW to assemble this particular cot. It is IMPOSSIBLE so far to get it to “recline” without upending the rest of it in one part or another. You would have to be SUPERMAN OR SUPERWOMAN I think to manage the reclining end. I cannot figure it out, though I can see how I think the thin bar should fit into the slots. But, if it does, I’m not strong enough to manage it. So far, I HATE THIS COT! And no one ever says how to make the reclining part work. They just talk about the three bars. The bars are just frustrating, they are not the difficult part. Any suggestions or a video on HOW to make the reclining end work?
