What this is about
This ALPS Mountaineering Utility Table is a new item they launched for the season 2020. There is a main accordion-type tabletop and a lower a bit smaller shelf with the same material and the same roll-up design.
On the side, you have a folding side table. The picture below shows that you can fold it independently. This may be convenient if you use the table in a narrow space under the tent’s porch or inside the tent.
So this is a folding and collapsible design, and his means the frame folds in one simple move together with the side table, while the two roll-up pieces fold separately.
In other words, there is a simple assembly but this is done in seconds. The tabletop and the shelf underneath it have pre-attached clips, see the picture below. So when the frame is ready, you unfold them and simply press them in place and they get attached to the frame.
Because of such a user-friendly construction, I have added it to my list of best collapsible camping tables.
Who is it for
Regarding the weight, with its 8 lb 10 oz (3.9 kg) this is a very light table in view of its overall structure and dimensions. There are many tubes in the frame, and they make it so stable, yet the weight is impressive.
Regarding the packed size, because of the folding frame, the packed dimensions 30 x 18 x 5 inches (76 x 46 x 13 cm) are such that you definitely need a car to transport this table. But observe how thin it is when packed, so it will not tame much space.
Regarding the dimensions and the design, this is a utility item as its name says. It is very tall with its 37.25 inches (95 cm) height.
The tabletop is not particularly wide as you see from this side-view picture below. But this is aluminum and you can use it as a grill table as well.
Note also that the lower aluminum shelf is very strong so here you can keep your cooler or any other bulky item.
