The Coleman Big-N-Tall Cot is a new heavy-duty tool, the heaviest and the strongest on the market, for very heavy and tall people as its name suggests. See more in the text.
- Extra large.
- Extra strong.
- Very reliable.
Who is it for
First of all see its weight, 35.2 lb (16 kg), bear this in mind if you plan to buy one. This cot is made heavy and strong for reason. It is obviously for any weight but it supports weight up to 600 lb (272 kg) so very heavy people will love to have this cot at hand.
On the other hand, the Big-N-Tall Cot is also very long, no less than 84 inches (213 cm), so if you are a tall person, up to 6 ft. 8 in. or so, you know what you need.
The cot packs nicely to a relatively small size, 43.3 x 11 x 5.5 inches (110 x 28 x 13 cm), so it will fit easily in a car trunk, and storing it in a closet at home is also not a problem.
So this is a great tool to be used by strong people at places with car access, and you can use it in many situations, here to mention just a few:
- regular camping places,
- trailhead hotels,
- for hunting,
- for fishing,
- as a spare bed for sudden guests at home.
If you plan to use it in cold environment, you will need an insulated pad, many are available on the market and you can see a top notch collection here.
Construction and style
Everything on this Coleman Company Big-N-Tall Cot is strong and rugged, designed after a military-style cot. So you have a classic X-shape steel frame, see the pictures, with side bars and end bars introduced for extra stability and support.
The bed canvas is again extra strong, the 6 legs are with oversized strong caps so it will not sink easily in a soft ground, and it will not damage the tent floor. This cot is built to last and you will use it for many years.
Everything folds up easily in the wheeled carry bag which is really nicely designed, with a great carry handle, wheels, and zipper, see the picture above. You need no extra tools to set the cot up or to take it down.
Fitting in the tent
The Coleman Big-N-Tall Cot is obviously very long, 84 inches (213 cm), so it will not fit in just every tent, but you will be able to use it in the most of the 2-person tents. Though it is high as well, 16.5 in (42 cm) so bear this in mind. Normal two person tents are usually around 110 cm high at the peak, so this should be fine.
One thing that I love to stress is the fact that you have a huge space and volume under such a cot to store all your gear, and even to make a bed for your dog. So the rest of the tent is then a free space. Now, compare this with an ordinary pad used on the floor in a tent.
You will notice the huge feet in this cot, so this is definitely good for the floor of the tent, and also if you use it at home. There should be no damage on the floor regardless of the weight of the user.
Pros and cons
My summary looks as follows:
|• Very sturdy & reliable.
• Huge capacity.
• Huge size.
• Easy setup.
• Durable materials.
• Legs with huge protected feet.
• A bit expensive.
The weight cannot be denied, but the price is in fact completely in line of what you have to pay for similar extra strong cots available on the market, see the comparison table below. But see the list of Pros, and see how I rate this cot:

|Browning Camping Titan Cot XP (XL)||85 x 40
(216 x 102)

Obviously, the Coleman cot is the heaviest, and in fact, I do not remember any other cot in this site which would come close to its weight, except the Coleman Airbed Cot Twin presented in my another text. So the weight may not be so great but these differences in weight are not so crucial because none of them is designed to be carried around. Those are camping cots to be used at places with car access, or at home as a spare bed.
More important may be the price, the bed size, and their weight capacity. So the prices at the moment of writing this text are, respectively, $125, 115, and 120. As you see, they are pretty much neck and neck regarding the price. But check the prices at your side, they change all the time.
Regarding the size, it is indeed huge, but see the other two, they are bigger.
To conclude this Coleman Big-N-Tall Cot review, there is not much one could object to this cot, it is indeed reliable and built to last. So if the weight is not an issue for you, I can warmly recommend it, you will not find anything stronger on the market.
Note that all Coleman cots currently available on the market are presented in my another text, so have a look, and see also many of them in the links below. In yet another text I give a list of cots for heavy people, so check out if there is something for you.
