Catoma Adventure Shelters IBNS (Improved BedNet System) is an outdoor tool that has been tested all around the world. It has excelled in all possible climates, partly also as an element of equipment of the US Army and Marines.
What this is about
Here you have a product that has been on the market for many years already, tried and tested by many. This system is slightly different from others presented in the site because it includes:
- a net tent,
- a rain fly.
These elements are designed to fit any standard military cot, so the cot itself is not the Catoma’s product.
On the other hand, the two mentioned elements are also sold separately. The net tent and the rain fly can be used separately on the ground as the usual tent, or for the off-the-ground sleeping in combination with any military-type cot.
Obviously, without the cot, the two elements can be used for hiking, mountaineering, and backpacking tours. With the cot, this is a system to be used in camping places with a car access.
Benefits of using the system
- Automatic setup.
- Versatile tool.
- 3-in-1 system.
The Improved BedNet System Tent
As mentioned above, the net tent is designed to fit onto a military cot. For this, you have straps on all four corners of the tent.
But the tent can be used on the ground as well. It is of the tub-type, waterproof and made of a durable material.
The setup is instant. You will be able to see this in the video. You have here tensioned fiberglass poles that deploy the tent automatically as soon as you remove it from the carry sack.
This fiberglass rod winds around the perimeter and it expands it to the shape which you see in the pictures. So the structure which you see requires no setup at all.
You have a carry bag included, see the picture above.
This IBNS is EPA registered, and it comes with Permethrin bonded to the material for the best possible insect repellency.
When stored, the size of the tent is 13 x 13 x 3 in (33 x 33 x 7.6 cm). When it is set up, it is quite large, with a length of 229 cm, and the width 84 cm and 64 cm at the two ends.
This is an Amazon’s Choice product, and this means recommended by them as well-priced, and ready to ship immediately. Note also in the link below that this is an Amazon Prime product so you can have it shipped for free.

The fly is constructed of 70D 1.9-ounce nylon ripstop. Similar to the tent, here too you have permethrin bonded to the fabric against insects. Together with the tent, it gives complete protection from elements and from insects. Note that the fly comes with integrated vents.
- the fly,
- a pole,

All these elements together weigh a little more than two pounds.

Conclusion
To conclude this Catoma Adventure Shelters IBNS review, what you have here is a system that has been tested around the world as being used by the US military. It does not include the cot from the same brand, but this system can be combined with any military-type cot like. Check this Teton Sports Adventurer as one great example.
The net tent can be used alone without the fly, and in this case, you have an ultra-lightweight backpacking and hiking tool which will provide you complete protection from insects. For the complete system, the net + fly please follow the link below.

Hey Jovo:
Your review is very informative and thorough. Good job! I like the way you have included a video of the set-up as well as photographs of the shelter in use on the cot and on the ground.
It activates a lot of possibility-thinking, this review. I think it’s a definite winner.
Thank you Netta, you have realized the potential of this tool and I agree with you. It has stood the test of time. Thank you for visiting my site.
