What type is this ALPS Mountaineering Ultimate Recliner

So here you have an excellent example of a folding chair, and this is a type that remains large in two dimensions when folded. But the picture below shows how incredibly thin it becomes when you fold it, so it will easily fit in narrow spaces:

What you also can realize from the picture above and the other pictures here in the text is its pleasant and padded headrest. So I have added it to my list of best chairs with a headrest.

Who is it for

Capacity-wise, with its declared 250 lb (113 kg) weight capacity this chair is not spectacular yet this is very typical for camping chairs of this type. But this chair is built in the style of this brand, so it is solid and very stable.

In any case, if you need something for very heavy users, please check this list.

Size-wise, I would say the best part is its enormous backrest. In fact, you will not find many taller chairs of this type. The overall dimensions are (W x D x H) 26 x 17 x 46 inches (66 x 43 x 117 cm).

I already mentioned its pleasant headrest, so this chair will provide a great head and neck support even if you are a very tall person. The picture below shows its slightly curved and pleasant backrest profile.

The wide distance between the front and back legs adds to its stability. You will need this when you recline the back to its lower positions.

The solid armrests and its moderately high seat make this chair easy to get in and out. So it is very suitable for tall people and for elderly users who need a good back support and armrests, they will have both here.

Weight-wise, the chair is moderately heavy in view of its size and robust structure. The weight is 10 lb (4.53 kg) so you would not want to carry it long distances.

The feet are with plastic caps so this is a floor-friendly construction, but they are narrow and they will sink in a soft ground. I would not use it in a floored tent.

Note that you have a lot of mesh on the back and on the seat, this is what they call the TechMesh, so the chair is ventilated and suitable for summer camping.
