Overview

This Cabela’s Camp Cot with Organizer is a very typical military-type collapsible camping cot. This means that it needs a simple assembly. But this implies just unfolding the frame with its pre-attached legs and the fabric, and then adding the two end bars.

So basically you have only three separate elements that you easily store in its included carry bag shown below. Its dimensions are 38 x 8 x 5.5 inches (97 x 20 x 14 cm).

There is also a full-length compartment in the back for your rifle, shotgun, or fishing pole.

Materials

The fabric is a heavy-duty 600D PVC-backed oxford nylon. The same material is used for the side storage set and for the carry bag.

The metal parts are all a strong steel and you have reinforced end bars for years of use.

Who is it for

Regarding the capacity, it is quite typical, the official capacity is 300 lb (136 kg). This should be fine with most of potential users, but if you need more, please check my list of cots for heavy people.

Regarding the dimensions, the cot is quite moderate. You have 74.8 x 26 inches (190 x 66 cm) bed size. Note that there are bars on all sides and they take a few centimeters of the useful length. So if you need something much larger, check these extra long cots for tall people.

The height is 15.7 inches (40 cm), so this is quite typical, and it allows for storage of lots of gear underneath the cot.

Regarding the weight, the cot is on the heavy side with its 22 lb (10 kg). You have already seen its packed size, so this is quite good for such cots.

Using the cot in a tent

The legs are with plastic caps, but it is a good idea to add something for floor protection if you use this cot in a floored tent.

You are off the ground so you can manage without a pad. But for comfort and also for insulation if you are in a cold environment it is good to add some sleeping pad. They have them many available, have a look here.
