What is in the name

This Tangkula 2-Person Tent Cot is a collapsible outdoor sleeping set. The meaning of this is that it has several separate elements that pack to a small size for transportation, and it needs an easy assembly. 

It is advertised as 4-in-1, and the meaning of that they describe with this picture:

But I think this is quite meaningless because the camping tent and cover can only be counted simply as a tent. This is a true double-layer tent.

However, it is indeed a 4-in-1 set in the following sense: 

1. You have a double-layer tent and a two-person cot as two pieces in the set. They can be used independently and together. Namely, you can use the tent as a standard ground tent.

You can also use the cot as a spare bed at home for sudden guests, or as a double-wide cot within any larger family camping tent.

But as mentioned, you can use these two also as a tent-cot (or cot-tent) structure shown in the top picture above. So far, this is 3-in-1. 

2. There is also a double wide self-inflating mattress included in the package. So here too the same holds, you can use it anywhere:

• as a camping pad in a larger camping tent,
• or as a spare pad for sudden guests, as a pad in the garden, and you name it,
• you can and should use it inside of this cot-tent as it ads comfort and also thermal insulation in a cold environment.

Assembly

The cot

Regarding the platform (the cot), this is a typical military-type folding double-wide camping cot. So its setup is incredibly easy, there are only three elements in it: the main body, and two end bars.

All you have to do is to unfold the cot in seconds, and then add those two end bars to have a stable and strong sleeping platform with a frame.

The tent

You have a two-person tent which is very easy to use due to the fact that there are only three poles. So after spreading the inner tent, you place the two identical poles into the sleeves and then attach them to the grommets in the corners.

The third pole is added on the top to spread the two main poles and to provide tension in the canopy. It attaches to the grommets on the roof.

You then place the tent on the cot and attach the rain fly on it. The tent is fixed to the cot with straps.

This is all easily done and one person can do the job easily in under 10 minutes without extra tools.

Self-inflating pad

The pad adds value to this set. It inflates largely by itself, so open the valve and put it aside while you are preparing the tent and cot. Very soon you will have the mattress ready. Blow in some air if needed.

Observe that the pad is with integrated pillow, so this may be enough for back sleepers without extra pillows.

Other details

The tent has one door, and this may not be so great for two people. They have added one window on the other side. 

The fly is a full-coverage type, but it does not go to the ground. This makes it different from the Kakadu BlockOut Cot Tent 2‑Person.

There is a storage pouch underneath the cot (the picture below) where you can place your boots to keep them off the ground. Note that the bed area is 31.2 ft² (2.9 m²), so underneath it you have a huge covered space to store your gear.

Materials

The cot is a strong iron construction, the picture below shows its legs details:

The three roof poles used for the inner tent are fiberglass.  

The fabric is Oxford polyester, the same used for the fly and inner tent. But the fly has a waterproof rating of 1500 mm achieved by its polyurethane coating.

The tent floor is a polyethylene, they do not provide info about its thickness and waterproof rating, but I am sure you are safe from the ground even if you use it as a ground tent.

Ventilation

There are two mesh windows here, one is on the door. The rest is taffeta. They have added two mesh sections that coincide with vents on the fly, so this should help in fighting condensation.

Regarding the weight capacity, the cot is for two people and it can support up to 660 lb (300 kg). This should be fine for most of potential users. 

The cot creates a full frame and it has 6 of those x-crossed legs, so this is a strong and stable construction. Note that there are 9 feet on the ground, so the weight is well distributed and the cot will not sink too much if used on a soft ground.

Regarding the dimensions, the most important are given below. You realize that the bed is not particularly long. Note that there is a frame around and it takes a few centimeters on all four sides.

So if you are a very tall person, check some other options on the market.

The width is quite good, though the tent walls are angled so this reduces the volume a bit, bear this in mind. In any case, this is a tent-cot for two people.

The bed is 1.4 ft (43 cm) above the ground, so I would describe it as moderately high. It is suitable for elderly users because getting in and out is easy with such a height and large door.

Regarding seasons, weather and climate, this is a shelter for all seasons as they claim. Namely, the inner tent is mainly taffeta, and you have a full cover fly. There are venting options, but I see this shelter best suited for a cooler climate.

Because of all said above, I have included it in my list of best double tent cots.

Regarding the weight, this is a heavy set but the weight is justified and similar to some of its competitors. For example, the weight of the Kakadu BlockOut Cot Tent 2‑Person is exactly the same. But indeed, the Naturehike Cot Tent for 2 People is much lighter.

You have already seen its packed size and weight; it may look bulky and heavy but this is a set for two adults. It comes with a large carrying bag equipped with wheels so it is not hard to move it from the car to the setting spot.

Regarding the price, this is a true bargain. But it is best to check the link for updates.
